Stephen King Has Been in a Coma for the Past Seven Years

Today Mr. King and a bunch of other people who make their living fantasizing for money released a letter condemning Donald Trump.  It is OK as boilerplate, but coming as it does after seven years of rule by executive fiat it rings pretty hollow.  At least Stephen has an excuse since he has killed off the better part of his brain cells over the years abusing various substances, so if he is missing a few years here or there then it is understandable.  And his profession involves him locking himself in a room and ignoring the outside world so that doesn’t help either.  But all of these writers couldn’t have been locked in a cellar together for the entire last 7 years.   I have not heard of most of them, and even the ones I have (such as Amy Tan) I am only familiar with to the extent that I know to avoid their work.

Trump is not who I would pick for president over anyone other than someone like Hillary, but there is not a thing on this list that Obama hasn’t already done.  This is more otherizing, and safespace nonsense from people who can’t stand to have the slightest thing not go their way.  They hope you are a dope and will accept their celebrity as some sort of  authority.  Because really, who has a better grasp on politics than someone who thinks cars can be inhabited by malevolent spirits?

Here is the open letter they wrote to the American public along with a few comments that many Americans might wish to make in return;

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE

Most of us call this blogging these days.

Because, as writers, we are particularly aware of the many ways that language can be abused in the name of power;

Such as “justice involved individuals” being substituted for criminal, or “man caused disaster” being substituted for terrorism, or “you can keep your doctor” being substituted for “fuck you”

Because we believe that any democracy worthy of the name rests on pluralism, welcomes principled disagreement, and achieves consensus through reasoned debate;

Such as locking all Republicans out of the deliberation over restructuring 1/6th of the US economy to remake it in Nancy Pelosi’s dessicated image and then sending the IRS out to round up the opposition.

Because American history, despite periods of nativism and bigotry, has from the first been a grand experiment in bringing people of different backgrounds together, not pitting them against one another;

In other words, the opposite of what community organizers do.  Do they really think race and gender relations are BETTER now than they were before Jeremiah Wright’s star pupil took office? Do they really think the riots we are seeing now, and were seeing before Trump even thought of running for office, are due to having such a calm, dispassionate influence in the White House?

Because the history of dictatorship is the history of manipulation and division, demagoguery and lies;

And if you don’t like it Obama has an executive order telling you that you will indeed like it.

Because the search for justice is predicated on a respect for the truth;

Or new definitions of words which will allow the court to give us what we want.

Because we believe that knowledge, experience, flexibility, and historical awareness are indispensable in a leader;

Which is why we lined up like lemmings and voted for the lovechild of Che Guevera and Chauncey Gardner in the last two elections.

Because neither wealth nor celebrity qualifies anyone to speak for the United States, to lead its military, to maintain its alliances, or to represent its people;

No, apparently what qualifies someone to do that is a sycophantic press corps that thinks it is a 13 year old girl attending her first  Shaun Cassidy concert.

Because the rise of a political candidate who deliberately appeals to the basest and most violent elements in society, who encourages aggression among his followers, shouts down opponents, intimidates dissenters, and denigrates women and minorities, demands, from each of us, an immediate and forceful response;

But hey, a little IRS persecution never intimidated anyone.  And those filmmakers who are sitting in jail totally deserve to be there. So shut up or our footsoldiers will storm your event and you will get blamed for the violence. Oh, and did you see how we specifically mentioned only women and minorities as worthy of protection when we were decrying divisiveness you bitter, heteronormative, bible clinging, white, cismale whose kind is responsible for all of the world’s ills and whose heart is filled with racism and sexism, unlike ours?

For all these reasons, we, the undersigned, as a matter of conscience, oppose, unequivocally, the candidacy of Donald J. Trump for the Presidency of the United States.

Really, who gives a shit what you oppose given what you sat on your asses and accepted over the last 7 years?  You lost your right to be taken seriously on this subject when you put your boyfriend in office and let him abuse his power in a fashion that even John Kerry hasn’t seen since he threw his medals over Genghis Khan’s palace walls.

I hate people this uninformed who presume to lecture the rest of the electorate who have actually been paying attention. They are perfectly willing to accept any outrage that is done in the name of their causes, but then act surprised when there is a chance they may end up being fed to the beast they created.

You have to understand that these are individuals who make a living fabricating people and lives over which they have complete control.  They seem to think government is like a writer who can dictate whatever ending is desired and all that matters is who the author/president is.  There is no economics, or science, or history in their world.  There is no set truth.  Nothing exists until they say it does.  In that sense, Obama is very much our first literary president. It is just that the genre he has chosen to write upon the walls of history is horror.

Trump might continue that narrative, but he sure as hell isn’t the one who brought us to this point in the story.  And it never crosses these damnable moron’s minds that they wouldn’t have to worry so much about who is at the helm if they hadn’t gone all in for a powerful and unrestrained federal government.

They put the electrodes to the forehead of the Frankensteinian monster which is our government and now they are aghast at the thought of what it could do to little girls such as themselves if it were to slip its leash.  The villagers have the torches out.  And Trump may be at their head, or he may be just another mad scientist looking for a battery, but one thing is for sure, the monster has to be put down before any of this story can come to an end.
